Bharati (82), belonged to poor family. She had 4 sisters and 1 brother. She was married to a drinker who used to beat her after drinking. He was a gambler as well. He tortured Bharati to every extent he could. Bharati gave birth to 3 boys. But due to her husband's indolence, she had to work as a daily wage worker to fulfill the needs of her family. She was the only bread-earner of the family. Her younger son used to live with her, but he too was an evil monster like his father. He got married and like his father he used to beat his wife. He harassed her. His wife left him with his child because of the ill treatment he gave her. Then he got married to another woman. He and his second wife threw his mother out of the house. They sent her to an  Old age home. But as soon as he got to know that his mother owns a good amount of property

   he brought her back home. Bharati distributed her property among all her sons equally. And after she gave them their shares in the property, they started ill- treating her. Owing to his younger son's behaviour, his second wife too left him. One day, he was too drunk that he raped his mother Bharati. She tried her level best to escape from him but got her leg fractured. She was screaming but his son didn't stop. She was brutally raped, ill-treated but nobody paid heed to her. Somehow Vasavya Mahila Mandali (VMM), got to know about her, so one VMM Mahila Mitra went to her house and sent her to the government hospital. VMM's President Dr.Keerthi visited Bharati regularly in the hospital until she was recovered. Dr.Keerthi talked to her and gave her shelter in VMM's old age home. Now, Bharati is living a peaceful life. 


This was another insight in the world of domestic violence. Women are tortured, and sometimes brutally beaten to death. But it's high time, it needs to reach its denouement.
